Jackson-Dawson Scion Wraps Up Regional Championship at Buttonwillow

Team Wins NASA Championships in PTE and TTE with Groundbreaking Scion tC Racecar

TORRANCE, Calif. — This month, Dan Gardner and the Jackson-Dawson team again set a new milestone…two regional championships in one season with a Scion racecar. The team took the points championship in both road racing and time trials with wins in PTE and TTE, respectively. In PTE, the team accrued 1,155 points, 75 more than the second place finisher. TTE was effectively a run-away, with the team garnering 1,265 points, a whopping 440 more than the second-place car. The wins cap a season filled with accomplishments in both classes.

The subframe bushings were a huge improvement, and in general deflection everywhere was minimized. The motor mounts help prevent axle hop, and allow us to to put the hammer down early. The 2007 Monster Jam World Finals in Las Vegas was the most spectacular event I have ever seen.   The freestyle obstacles were the biggest ever attempted in Monster Truck history.  We are getting close to the limits of abuse that both truck and driver can take.  I am so proud of Pablo’s victory over 24 teams of talented drivers in awesome machines.  This year’s line up was truly the toughest ever. 
In the past 6 years, Pablo’s ’41 Willys has been campaign as the Blacksmith.  We decided to change it up with a new name and graphics;  “Captain Curse” -  a pirates theme.
On Friday, Pablo’s qualifying pass placed him in the not so favorable side of the bracket for racing, he shook it off and kept a positive attitude.  In Saturday’s rounds of racing, he advanced to the semi-final round against team mate Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger and lost by a hair. 
His freestyle run consisted of big risks jumping all of the huge obstacles and filling the 90 second limit on the clock; earning him the championship.
